Jesus Rejoices in the Father's Will

21 (A)In that same hour (B)he rejoiced (C)in the Holy Spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, (D)Lord of heaven and earth, that (E)you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and (F)revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for (G)such was your gracious will.[a] 22 (H)All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is (I)except the Father, or who the Father is (J)except the Son and anyone (K)to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”

23 Then turning to the disciples he said privately, (L)“Blessed are the eyes that see what you see! 24 For I tell you (M)that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.”

The Parable of the Good Samaritan

25 (N)And behold, a (O)lawyer stood up to (P)put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to (Q)inherit eternal life?” 26 He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?” 27 And he answered, (R)“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and (S)your neighbor as yourself.” 28 And he said to him, “You have answered correctly; (T)do this, and you will live.”

29 But he, (U)desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 30 Jesus replied, “A man (V)was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a (W)priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. 32 So likewise (X)a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a (Y)Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 He went to him and (Z)bound up his wounds, pouring on (AA)oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 And the next day he took out two (AB)denarii[b] and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’ 36 Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” 37 He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.”

Martha and Mary

38 Now as they went on their way, Jesus[c] entered a village. And a woman named (AC)Martha (AD)welcomed him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called (AE)Mary, who (AF)sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” 41 But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are (AG)anxious and troubled about many things, 42 but one thing is necessary.[d] Mary has chosen (AH)the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”

Ayin

121 I have done what is just and right;
    do not leave me to my oppressors.
122 Give your servant (A)a pledge of good;
    let not (B)the insolent oppress me.
123 My (C)eyes long for your salvation
    and for the fulfillment of your righteous promise.
124 Deal with your servant according to your steadfast love,
    and (D)teach me your statutes.
125 I am your (E)servant; (F)give me understanding,
    that I may know your testimonies!
126 It is time for the Lord to act,
    for your law has been broken.
127 Therefore I (G)love your commandments
    above gold, above fine gold.
128 Therefore I consider all your precepts to be right;
    I hate every (H)false way.

Pe

129 Your testimonies are (I)wonderful;
    therefore my soul (J)keeps them.
130 The unfolding of your words gives light;
    it imparts (K)understanding to the simple.
131 I (L)open my mouth and (M)pant,

137 (W)Righteous are you, O Lord,
    and right are your rules.
138 You have appointed your testimonies in (X)righteousness
    and in all (Y)faithfulness.
139 My (Z)zeal consumes me,
    because my foes forget your words.
140 Your promise is well (AA)tried,
    and your servant (AB)loves it.
141 I am small and despised,
    yet I do not (AC)forget your precepts.
142 Your righteousness is righteous forever,
    and your law is (AD)true.
143 Trouble and anguish have found me out,
    but your commandments are my (AE)delight.
144 Your testimonies are righteous forever;
    (AF)give me understanding that I may (AG)live.

Qoph

145 With my (AH)whole heart I cry; answer me, O Lord!
    I will (AI)keep your statutes.
146 I call to you; save me,
    that I may observe your testimonies.
147 I rise before (AJ)dawn and cry for help;
    I (AK)hope in your words.
148 My eyes are awake before (AL)the watches of the night,
    that I may meditate on your promise.
149 Hear my voice according to your steadfast love;
    O Lord, (AM)according to your justice (AN)give me life.
150 They draw near who persecute me with evil purpose;
    they are far from your law.
151 But (AO)you are near, O Lord,
    and all your commandments are (AP)true.
152 Long have I known from your testimonies
    that you have (AQ)founded them forever.
