¹⁴ and said to them, “You brought me this man ^(A)as one who was misleading the people. And ^(B)after examining him before you, behold, I ^(C)did not find this man guilty of any of your charges against him.

²² A third time he said to them, “Why, ^(A)what evil has he done? ^(B)I have found in him no guilt deserving death. ^(C)I will therefore punish and release him.”

³⁸ Pilate said to him, “What is truth?”

After he had said this, ^(A)he went back outside to the Jews and told them, ^(B)“I find no guilt in him.

⁴ Pilate went out again and said to them, “See, I am bringing him out to you that you may know that ^(A)I find no guilt in him.”

⁶ When the chief priests and the officers saw him, they cried out, “Crucify him, crucify him!” Pilate said to them, ^(A)“Take him yourselves and crucify him, for ^(B)I find no guilt in him.”

Pilate Delivers Jesus to Be Crucified

²⁴ So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that ^(A)a riot was beginning, he took water and ^(B)washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of ^(C)this man's blood;^{[a] (D)}see to it yourselves.”

^22 (A)He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth.
