⁵³ but they would not welcome him because the destination of his journey was Jerusalem.

¹¹ As he continued his journey to Jerusalem,^(A) he traveled through Samaria and Galilee.^[a]

^31 [a]Then he took the Twelve aside and said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem and everything written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled.^[b]

²⁸ After he had said this, he proceeded on his journey up to Jerusalem.

⁵¹ As he blessed them he parted from them and was taken up to heaven.

² until the day he was taken up, after giving instructions through the holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen.^(A)

⁹ When he had said this, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him from their sight.^{(A) 10} While they were looking intently at the sky as he was going, suddenly two men dressed in white garments stood beside them.^{(B) 11} They said, “Men of Galilee, why are you standing there looking at the sky? This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will return in the same way as you have seen him going into heaven.”^(C)
