47 The centurion who witnessed what had happened glorified God and said, “This man was innocent[a] beyond doubt.” 48 When all the people who had gathered for this spectacle saw what had happened, they returned home beating their breasts;(A) 49 but all his acquaintances stood at a distance, including the women who had followed him from Galilee and saw these events.(B)

47 The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God(A) and said, “Surely this was a righteous man.” 48 When all the people who had gathered to witness this sight saw what took place, they beat their breasts(B) and went away. 49 But all those who knew him, including the women who had followed him from Galilee,(C) stood at a distance,(D) watching these things.
