6 “A son honors his father and a servant his master. So if I’m a father, where is my honor? And if I’m a master, where is my respect?” says the Lord of the Heavenly Armies to you priests who are despising my name. “But you ask, ‘How have we despised your name?’ 7 By presenting defiled food on my altar. And you ask, ‘How have we defiled you?’ By saying, ‘The Table of the Lord is contemptible.’

6 “A son honors his father,(C) and a slave his master.(D) If I am a father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the respect(E) due me?” says the Lord Almighty.(F)
“It is you priests who show contempt for my name.
“But you ask,(G) ‘How have we shown contempt for your name?’
7 “By offering defiled food(H) on my altar.
“But you ask,(I) ‘How have we defiled you?’
“By saying that the Lord’s table(J) is contemptible.
