⁴⁰ Then^(A) a man with leprosy^[a](B) came to him and, on his knees,^[b](C) begged him, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.”^{(D) 41} Moved with compassion,^[c](E) Jesus reached out his hand and touched^(F) him. “I am willing,” he told him. “Be made clean.” ⁴² Immediately the leprosy^(G) left him, and he was made clean. ⁴³ Then he sternly warned^(H) him and sent him away^(I) at once, ⁴⁴ telling him, “See that you say nothing to anyone;^(J) but go and show^(K) yourself to the priest,^(L) and offer^(M) what Moses commanded for your cleansing,^(N) as a testimony^(O) to them.”^[d]

A Man Cleansed

¹² While he was in one of the towns, a man was there who had leprosy^[a] all over him.^(A) He saw Jesus, fell facedown, and begged him, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”

¹³ Reaching out his hand, Jesus touched him,^(B) saying, “I am willing; be made clean,” and immediately the leprosy left him. ¹⁴ Then he ordered him to tell no one:^(C) “But go and show yourself to the priest, and offer what Moses commanded for your cleansing as a testimony to them.”
