^35 (A)And Jesus began to say, as He ^(B)taught in the temple, “How is it that the scribes say that the ^[a]Christ is the ^(C)son of David?

⁴⁹ Every day I was with you ^(A)in the temple teaching, and you did not seize Me; but this has taken place in order that the Scriptures would be fulfilled.”

²⁰ And He ^(A)closed the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and ^(B)sat down, and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Him.

⁴⁷ And ^(A)He was teaching daily in the temple, but the chief priests and the scribes and the leading men among the people ^(B)were trying to destroy Him,

The Authority of Jesus Challenged

20 ^(A)And it happened that on one of the days while ^(B)He was teaching the people in the temple and ^(C)proclaiming the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes with the elders ^(D)came up to Him,

³⁷ Now ^[a]during the day He was ^(A)teaching in the temple, but ^[b](B)during the night He would go out and spend it on ^[c](C)the mount called “of ^[d]Olives.”

¹⁴ But when it was now the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and began to ^(A)teach.

²⁸ Then Jesus cried out in the temple, ^(A)teaching and saying, “^(B)You both know Me and know where I am from; and ^(C)I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know.

² Early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people were coming to Him; and ^(A)He sat down and began to teach them.
