Peter’s Denials

66 (A)As Peter was below in (B)the courtyard, one of the servant-girls of the high priest *came, 67 and seeing Peter (C)warming himself, she looked at him and *said, “You also were with Jesus the (D)Nazarene.” 68 But he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor understand what you are talking about.” And he (E)went out onto the [a]porch.[b] 69 The servant-girl saw him, and began once more to say to the bystanders, “This is one of them!” 70 But again (F)he denied it. And after a little while the bystanders were again saying to Peter, “Surely you are one of them, (G)for you are a Galilean too.” 71 But he began to [c]curse and swear, “I do not know this man you are talking about!” 72 Immediately a rooster crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had made the remark to him, “Before (H)a rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” [d]And he began to weep.

And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had told him, (F)Before a rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times.” 62 And he went out and wept bitterly.

16 (A)but Peter was standing at the door outside. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the doorkeeper, and brought Peter in. 17 (B)Then the slave-girl who kept the door *said to Peter, “(C)You are not also one of this man’s disciples, are you?” He *said, “I am not.” 18 Now the slaves and the (D)officers were standing there, having made (E)a charcoal fire, for it was cold and they were (F)warming themselves; and Peter was also with them, standing and warming himself.

Peter’s Denial of Jesus

25 (A)Now (B)Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. So they said to him, “(C)You are not also one of His disciples, are you?” He denied it, and said, “I am not.” 26 One of the slaves of the high priest, being a relative of the one (D)whose ear Peter cut off, *said, “Did I not see you in (E)the garden with Him?” 27 Peter then denied it again, and immediately (F)a rooster crowed.
