15 So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, released for them Barabbas, and having (A)scourged[a] Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

16 (B)And the soldiers led him away inside (C)the palace (that is, (D)the governor's headquarters),[b] and they called together the whole (E)battalion.[c] 17 And they clothed him in (F)a purple cloak, and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on him.

15 Wanting to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them. He had Jesus flogged,(A) and handed him over to be crucified.
The Soldiers Mock Jesus(B)
16 The soldiers led Jesus away into the palace(C) (that is, the Praetorium) and called together the whole company of soldiers. 17 They put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him.
