Jesus Is Buried

^42 (A)When evening had already come, because it was ^(B)the preparation day, that is, the day before the Sabbath,

⁵⁴ It was ^(A)the ^[a]preparation day, and the Sabbath was about to ^[b]begin.

¹⁴ Now it was ^(A)the day of preparation for the Passover; it was about the ^[a](B)sixth hour. And he *said to the Jews, “Behold, ^(C)your King!”

Care of the Body of Jesus

³¹ Then the Jews, because it was ^(A)the day of preparation, so that ^(B)the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (^[a]for that Sabbath was a ^(C)high day), asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

⁴² Therefore because of the Jewish day of ^(A)preparation, since the tomb was ^(B)nearby, they laid Jesus there.
