³¹ Then His mother and His brothers arrived, and standing outside they sent word to Him and called for Him.^{(A) 32} A crowd was sitting around Him, and they said to Him, “Look! Your mother and Your brothers are outside asking for You.” ³³ And He replied, “Who are My mother and My brothers?” ³⁴ Looking at those who were sitting in a circle around Him, He said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! ³⁵ For ^[a]whoever does the will of God [by believing in Me, and following Me], he is My brother and sister and mother.”

¹⁹ Then Jesus’ mother and His brothers came up toward Him, but they could not reach Him because of the crowd.^{(A) 20} And He was told, “Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, asking to see You.” ²¹ But He answered, “My mother and My brothers are these who listen to the word of God and do it!”
