²⁸They answered, “Some say you are John the Baptist. Others say you are Elijah,^[a] and others say you are one of the prophets.”

²⁹Then Jesus asked, “But who do you say I am?”

Peter answered, “You are the Christ.”

³⁰Jesus warned his followers not to tell anyone who he was.

²⁹“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”

Peter answered, “You are the Messiah.”^(C)

²⁹And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.

³⁰And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.
