³⁴But they were silent; for on the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest.

³⁵Then, sitting down, he called the twelve and said unto them, If anyone desires to be first, the same shall be last of all and servant of all.

³⁶And taking a child, he set him in the midst of them; and taking him in his arms, he said unto them,

³⁴But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest.^(A)

³⁵Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”^(B)

³⁶He took a little child whom he placed among them. Taking the child in his arms,^(C) he said to them,
