Preaching of John the Baptist

1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, ^(A)the Son of God,

^2 (B)just as it is written in Isaiah the prophet:

⁴ John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, ^[c](E)preaching a baptism of repentance for the ^(F)forgiveness of sins.

^22 (A)beginning ^[a]with the baptism of John until the day that He ^(B)was taken up from us—one of these must become a ^(C)witness with us of His resurrection.”

⁴ Paul said, “^(A)John baptized with a baptism of repentance, telling the people ^(B)to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus.”
