²¹ For from within, out of the ^[a]hearts of people, come the evil thoughts, acts of sexual immorality, thefts, murders, acts of adultery, ²² deeds of greed, wickedness, deceit, indecent behavior, ^[b](A)envy, slander, ^[c]pride, and foolishness. ²³ All these evil things come from within and defile the person.”

The Syrophoenician Woman

^24 (B)Now Jesus got up and went from there to the region of ^(C)Tyre^[d]. And when He had entered a house, He wanted no one to know about it; and yet He could not escape notice. ²⁵ But after hearing about Him, a woman whose little daughter had an unclean spirit immediately came and fell at His feet. ²⁶ Now the woman was a ^[e]Gentile, of Syrophoenician descent. And she repeatedly asked Him to cast the demon out of her daughter. ²⁷ And He was saying to her, “Let the children be satisfied first, for it is not ^[f]good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the ^[g]dogs.” ²⁸ But she answered and *said to Him, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs under the table feed on the children’s crumbs.” ²⁹ And He said to her, “Because of this ^[h]answer, go; the demon has gone out of your daughter.” ³⁰ And after going back to her home, she found the child ^[i]lying on the bed, and the demon gone.

^31 (D)Again He left the region of ^(E)Tyre and came through Sidon to ^(F)the Sea of Galilee, within the region of ^(G)Decapolis. ³² And they *brought to Him one who was deaf and had difficulty speaking, and they *begged Him to ^(H)lay His hand on him. ³³ And Jesus ^(I)took him aside from the crowd, by himself, and put His fingers in his ears, and after ^(J)spitting, He touched his tongue with the saliva; ³⁴ and looking up to heaven with a deep ^(K)sigh, He *said to him, “Ephphatha!” that is, “Be opened!” ³⁵ And his ears were opened, and the ^[j]impediment of his tongue was ^[k]removed, and he began speaking plainly. ³⁶ And ^(L)He gave them orders not to tell anyone; but the more He ordered them, the more widely they ^(M)continued to proclaim it. ³⁷ And they were utterly astonished, saying, “He has done all things well; He makes even those who are deaf hear, and those who are unable to talk, speak.”

⁹ Or ^(A)do you not know that the unrighteous will not ^(B)inherit the kingdom of God? ^(C)Do not be deceived; ^(D)neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor ^[a]homosexuals, ¹⁰ nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor those habitually drunk, nor verbal abusers, nor swindlers, will ^(E)inherit the kingdom of God. ^11 (F)Such were some of you; but you were ^(G)washed, but you were ^(H)sanctified, but you were ^(I)justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and ^[b]in the Spirit of our God.

The Body Is the Lord’s

^12 (J)All things are permitted for me, but not all things are of benefit. All things are permitted for me, but I will not be mastered by anything. ^13 (K)Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, however God will ^(L)do away with both ^[c]of them. But the body is not for sexual immorality, but ^(M)for the Lord, and ^(N)the Lord is for the body. ¹⁴ Now God has not only ^(O)raised the Lord, but ^(P)will also raise us up through His power. ^15 (Q)Do you not know that ^(R)your bodies are parts of Christ? Shall I then take away the parts of Christ and make them parts of a prostitute? ^[d](S)Far from it! ¹⁶ Or ^(T)do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body with her? For He says, “^(U)The two shall become one flesh.” ¹⁷ But the one who joins himself to the Lord is ^(V)one spirit with Him. ^18 (W)Flee sexual immorality. Every other sin that a person commits is outside the body, but the ^[e]sexually immoral person sins against his own body. ¹⁹ Or ^(X)do you not know that ^(Y)your body is a ^[f]temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from ^[g]God, and that ^(Z)you are not your own? ²⁰ For ^(AA)you have been bought for a price: therefore glorify God in ^(AB)your body.

^18 (A)Flee sexual immorality. Every other sin that a person commits is outside the body, but the ^[a]sexually immoral person sins against his own body.

²¹ I am afraid that when I come again my God may humiliate me before you, and I may mourn over many of those who have ^(A)sinned in the past and not repented of the ^(B)impurity, sexual immorality, and indecent behavior which they have practiced.

¹⁹ Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: ^(A)sexual immorality, impurity, indecent behavior, ²⁰ idolatry, ^(B)witchcraft, hostilities, ^(C)strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, ^(D)selfish ambition, dissensions, ^(E)factions, ²¹ envy, ^(F)drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not ^(G)inherit the kingdom of God. ²² But ^(H)the fruit of the Spirit is ^(I)love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, ²³ gentleness, ^(J)self-control; against such things ^(K)there is no law. ²⁴ Now those who ^[a]belong to ^(L)Christ Jesus ^(M)crucified the flesh with its passions and ^(N)desires.

²⁵ If we live by the Spirit, let’s follow ^(O)the Spirit as well. ²⁶ Let’s not become ^(P)boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.

¹⁹ and they, having ^(A)become callous, ^(B)have given themselves up to ^(C)indecent behavior ^[a]for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness.

³ But ^(A)sexual immorality ^[a]or any impurity or greed must not even be mentioned among you, as is proper among ^[b]saints;

⁵ For this you know with certainty, that ^(A)no sexually immoral or ^[a]impure or greedy person, which ^[b]amounts to an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom ^(B)of Christ and God.
