Jesus Heals Blind Bartimaeus^(A)

^46 (B)Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. ⁴⁷ And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, ^(C)Son of David, ^(D)have mercy on me!”

⁴⁸ Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

⁴⁹ So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called.

Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.”

⁵⁰ And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus.

⁵¹ So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?”

The blind man said to Him, ^[a]“Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.”

⁵² Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; ^(E)your faith has ^[b]made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.

Jesus: How Can David Call His Descendant Lord?^(A)

^35 (B)Then Jesus answered and said, while He taught in the temple, “How is it that the scribes say that the Christ is the Son of David? ³⁶ For David himself said ^(C)by the Holy Spirit:

³⁷ Therefore David himself calls Him ‘Lord’; how is He then his ^(E)Son?”

And the common people heard Him gladly.

The Genealogy of Jesus Christ^(A)

1 The book of the ^(B)genealogy^[a] of Jesus Christ, ^(C)the Son of David, ^(D)the Son of Abraham:

¹⁷ So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, from David until the captivity in Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the captivity in Babylon until the Christ are fourteen generations.

¹⁵ But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He did, and the children crying out in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the ^(A)Son of David!” they were ^[a]indignant ¹⁶ and said to Him, “Do You hear what these are saying?”

And Jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never read,

¹⁵ But My mercy shall not depart from him, ^(A)as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you. ¹⁶ And ^(B)your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before ^[a]you. Your throne shall be established forever.” ’ ”

¹⁷ According to all these words and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.

^16 (A)“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. ^(B)I am the Root and the Offspring of David, ^(C)the Bright and Morning Star.”

¹⁶ Jesus said to her, ^(A)“Mary!”

She turned and said to ^[a]Him, “Rabboni!” (which is to say, Teacher).
