The Greatest Commandment(A)

34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees,(B) the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law,(C) tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a](D) 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b](E)

29 (B)Jesu dá ọkùnrin yìí lóhùn pé, “Èyí tó ṣe pàtàkì jùlọ nínú àwọn òfin ni èyí tí ó kà báyìí pé: ‘Gbọ́ Israẹli; Olúwa Ọlọ́run wa Olúwa kan ni. 30 Kí ìwọ kí ó fi gbogbo àyà rẹ, àti gbogbo ọkàn rẹ, àti gbogbo ẹ̀mí rẹ, àti gbogbo agbára rẹ fẹ́ Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ, èyí ní òfin kìn-ín-ní.’ 31 (C)Èkejì ni pé: ‘Fẹ́ ọmọnìkejì rẹ.’ Kò sí òfin mìíràn tó ga ju méjèèjì yìí lọ.”

The Greatest Commandment(A)

28 One of the teachers of the law(B) came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[a] 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’[b](C) 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[c](D) There is no commandment greater than these.”
