22 Now all this happened in order to make come true what the Lord had said through the prophet, 23 (A)“A virgin will become pregnant and have a son, and he will be called Immanuel” (which means, “God is with us”).
24 So when Joseph woke up, he married Mary, as the angel of the Lord had told him to.

22 All this took place to fulfill(A) what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”[a](B) (which means “God with us”).
24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel(C) of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.
