³⁴You brood of vipers! How can you speak good things when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.^(A)

New International Version

³⁴You brood of vipers,^(A) how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks^(B) what the heart is full of.

³⁵The good person brings good things out of a good treasure, and the evil person brings evil things out of an evil treasure.

³⁵A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.

²⁰And he said, “It is what comes out of a person that defiles.

²⁰He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them.
