³⁶But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.

³⁶But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.

⁴Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk^(A) or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.^(B)

⁴^(A)neither filthiness, nor ^(B)foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, ^(C)which are not fitting, but rather ^(D)giving of thanks.

⁸But now you must also rid yourselves^(A) of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander,^(B) and filthy language from your lips.^(C)

⁸^(A)But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.
