39 But he answered and said to them, An evil and [a]adulterous generation seeketh a sign, but no sign shall be given unto it, save that sign of the Prophet Jonah.
40 (A)For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly: so shall the son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
41 [b]The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and condemn it: for they (B)repented at the preaching of Jonah: and behold, a greater than Jonah is here.

39 He answered, “A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.(A) 40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish,(B) so the Son of Man(C) will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.(D) 41 The men of Nineveh(E) will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah,(F) and now something greater than Jonah is here.
