Going on from that place, he went into their synagogue, 10 and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to bring charges against Jesus,(B) they asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”(C)

11 He said to them, “If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out?(D) 12 How much more valuable is a person than a sheep!(E) Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”

13 Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out and it was completely restored, just as sound as the other. 14 But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus.(F)

Once more Pilate came out and said to the Jews gathered there, “Look, I am bringing him out(A) to you to let you know that I find no basis for a charge against him.”(B) When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe,(C) Pilate said to them, “Here is the man!”

As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, “Crucify! Crucify!”

But Pilate answered, “You take him and crucify him.(D) As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him.”(E)

The Jewish leaders insisted, “We have a law, and according to that law he must die,(F) because he claimed to be the Son of God.”(G)
