Jesus Heals a Man with a Paralyzed Hand(A)
9 Moving on from there, Jesus[a] went into their synagogue. 10 Suddenly, a man with a paralyzed hand appeared. The people[b] asked Jesus[c] if it was lawful to heal on Sabbath days,[d] intending to accuse him of doing something wrong.
11 But he asked them, “Is there a man among you who, if he had one sheep and it fell into a ditch on the Sabbath, wouldn’t take hold of it and pull it out? 12 How much more is a human being worth than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on Sabbath days.”[e]
13 Then he told the man, “Hold out your hand.” He held it out and it became normal, as healthy as his other hand. 14 The Pharisees, however, went out and plotted against Jesus[f] to kill him.

9 Going on from that place, he went into their synagogue, 10 and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to bring charges against Jesus,(A) they asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”(B)
11 He said to them, “If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out?(C) 12 How much more valuable is a person than a sheep!(D) Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”
13 Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out and it was completely restored, just as sound as the other. 14 But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus.(E)

3 Jesus[a] went into the synagogue again, and a man with a paralyzed hand was there. 2 The people[b] watched Jesus[c] closely to see whether he would heal him on the Sabbath,[d] intending to accuse him of doing something wrong. 3 He told the man with the paralyzed hand, “Come forward.”[e] 4 Then he asked them, “Is it lawful to do good or to do evil on Sabbath days,[f] to save a life or to destroy it?” But they remained silent.
5 Jesus[g] looked around at them in anger, deeply hurt because of their hard hearts. Then he told the man, “Hold out your hand.” The man[h] held it out, and his hand was restored to health. 6 Immediately the Pharisees and Herodians[i] went out and began to plot how to kill him.

3 Another time Jesus went into the synagogue,(A) and a man with a shriveled hand was there. 2 Some of them were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely(B) to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath.(C) 3 Jesus said to the man with the shriveled hand, “Stand up in front of everyone.”
4 Then Jesus asked them, “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent.
5 He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored. 6 Then the Pharisees went out and began to plot with the Herodians(D) how they might kill Jesus.(E)
