²² Now the one sown among the thorns—this is one who hears the word, but the worries of this age^(A) and the seduction^[a] of wealth^(B) choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

⁴ who gave Himself for our sins^(A) to rescue us from this present evil age,^(B) according to the will of our God and Father.^(C)

A Warning about the World

¹⁵ Do not love the world^(A) or the things that belong to^[a] the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him.
