Tradition and Commandment
15 (A)Then some Pharisees and scribes *came to Jesus (B)from Jerusalem and said, 2 “Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they (C)do not wash their hands when they eat bread.” 3 And He answered and said to them, “Why do you yourselves also break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? 4 For God said, ‘(D)Honor your father and mother,’ and, ‘(E)The one who speaks evil of father or mother is to [a]be put to death.’ 5 But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever I have that would help you has been [b]given to God,” 6 he is not to [c]honor his father or mother.’ And by this you have invalidated the word of God for the sake of your tradition. 7 You hypocrites, rightly did Isaiah prophesy about you, by saying:
8 ‘(F)This people honors Me with their lips,
But their heart is far away from Me.
9 And in vain do they worship Me,
Teaching as (G)doctrines the commandments of men.’”
10 After Jesus called the crowd to Him, He said to them, “Hear and understand! 11 (H)It is not what enters the mouth that defiles the person, but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles the person.”
12 Then the disciples came and *said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were [d]offended when they heard this statement?” 13 But He answered and said, “(I)Every plant which My heavenly Father did not plant will be uprooted. 14 Leave them alone; (J)they are blind guides [e]of blind people. And (K)if a person who is blind guides another who is blind, both will fall into a pit.”
The Heart of Man
15 Peter [f]said to Him, “(L)Explain the parable to us.” 16 [g]Jesus said, “Are you also still lacking in understanding? 17 Do you not understand that everything that goes into the mouth passes into the stomach, and is [h]eliminated? 18 But (M)the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and those things defile the person. 19 (N)For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, acts of adultery, other immoral sexual acts, thefts, false testimonies, and [i]slanderous statements. 20 These are the things that defile the person; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the person.”
The Faith of a Canaanite Woman
21 (O)Jesus went away from there, and withdrew into the region of (P)Tyre and (Q)Sidon. 22 And a Canaanite woman from that region came out and began to cry out, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, (R)Son of David; my daughter is severely (S)demon-possessed.” 23 But He did not answer her with even a word. And His disciples came up and urged Him, saying, “Send her away, because she keeps shouting [j]at us!” 24 But He answered and said, “I was sent only to (T)the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” 25 But she came and (U)began [k]to bow down before Him, saying, “Lord, help me!” 26 Yet He answered and said, “It is not [l]good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” 27 And she said, “Yes, Lord; but please help, for even the dogs feed on the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” 28 Then Jesus said to her, “O woman, (V)your faith is great; it shall be done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed [m]at once.
Healing Crowds
29 (W)Departing from there, Jesus went along (X)the Sea of Galilee, and after going up on the mountain, He was sitting there. 30 And [n]large crowds came to Him bringing with them those who were limping, had impaired limbs, were blind, or were unable to speak, and many others, and they laid them down at His feet; and (Y)He healed them. 31 So the crowd was astonished as they saw those who were unable to speak talking, those with impaired limbs [o]restored, those who were limping walking around, and those who were blind seeing; and they (Z)glorified the God of Israel.
Four Thousand Men Fed
32 (AA)Now Jesus called His disciples to Him and said, “(AB)I feel compassion for the [p]people, because they [q]have remained with Me now for three days and have nothing to eat; and I do not want to send them away hungry, for they might faint on the way.” 33 The disciples *said to Him, “Where would we get so many loaves in this desolate place to satisfy such a large crowd?” 34 And Jesus *said to them, “How many loaves do you have?” And they said, “Seven, and a few small fish.” 35 And He directed the [r]people to [s]sit down on the ground; 36 and He took the seven loaves and the fish; and after (AC)giving thanks, He broke them and started giving them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. 37 And they all ate and were satisfied, and they picked up what was left over of the broken pieces, seven large (AD)baskets full. 38 And those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.
39 And sending away the crowds, Jesus got into (AE)the boat and came to the region of (AF)Magadan.

Mga Minanang Turo(A)
15 Pagkatapos ay lumapit kay Jesus ang mga Fariseo at ang mga eskriba na nanggaling sa Jerusalem, at sinabi nila,
2 “Bakit lumalabag ang iyong mga alagad sa tradisyon ng matatanda? Hindi sila naghuhugas ng kanilang mga kamay bago sila kumain ng tinapay.”
3 Sumagot siya sa kanila at sinabi, “Bakit lumalabag naman kayo sa utos ng Diyos dahil sa inyong tradisyon?
4 Sapagkat(B) sinabi ng Diyos, ‘Igalang mo ang iyong ama at ang iyong ina;’ at ‘Ang magsalita ng masama sa ama o sa ina, ay dapat mamatay.’
5 Ngunit sinasabi ninyo na sinumang magsabi sa kanyang ama o sa kanyang ina, ‘Anumang pakikinabangin mo mula sa akin ay ipinagkaloob ko na sa Diyos.’ Ang taong iyon ay hindi na kailangang gumalang pa sa kanyang ama.
6 Kaya, pinawalang-saysay ninyo ang salita[a] ng Diyos dahil sa inyong tradisyon.
7 Kayong mga mapagkunwari, tama ang ipinahayag ni Isaias tungkol sa inyo nang sabihin niya,
8 ‘Iginagalang(C) ako ng bayang ito sa kanilang mga labi,
ngunit ang kanilang puso ay malayo sa akin.
9 At walang kabuluhan ang pagsamba nila sa akin,
na itinuturo nila bilang mga aral ang mga alituntunin ng mga tao.’”
Ang Nagpaparumi sa Tao(D)
10 Pinalapit ni Jesus[b] sa kanya ang mga tao at sinabi sa kanila, “Pakinggan ninyo ito at unawain.
11 Hindi ang pumapasok sa bibig ang nagpaparumi sa tao, kundi ang lumalabas sa bibig ang nagpaparumi.”
12 Pagkatapos ay dumating ang mga alagad at sinabi sa kanya, “Alam mo bang nasaktan ang mga Fariseo nang marinig nila ang pananalitang ito?”
13 Ngunit sumagot siya at sinabi, “Ang bawat halamang hindi itinanim ng aking Ama na nasa langit ay bubunutin.
14 Hayaan(E) ninyo sila; sila'y mga bulag na taga-akay.[c] At kung ang bulag ay umakay sa bulag, kapwa sila mahuhulog sa hukay.”
15 Sumagot naman si Pedro at sinabi sa kanya, “Ipaliwanag mo sa amin ang talinghaga.”
16 At sinabi niya, “Pati ba naman kayo'y wala pa ring pang-unawa?
17 Hindi pa ba ninyo nalalaman na ang anumang pumapasok sa bibig ay tumutuloy sa tiyan, at inilalabas sa daanan ng dumi?
18 Ngunit(F) ang mga bagay na lumalabas sa bibig ay nagmumula sa puso at siyang nagpaparumi sa tao.
19 Sapagkat nagmumula sa puso ang masasamang pag-iisip, pagpatay, pangangalunya, pakikiapid, pagnanakaw, pagsaksi sa kasinungalingan, at paglapastangan.
20 Ito ang mga bagay na nagpaparumi sa tao; ngunit ang kumain nang hindi naghuhugas ng mga kamay ay hindi nagpaparumi sa tao.”
Ang Pananalig ng Babaing Cananea(G)
21 Umalis doon si Jesus at pumunta sa nasasakupan ng Tiro at Sidon.
22 May isang babaing Cananea na mula sa lupaing iyon ang lumabas at nagsimulang sumigaw, “Mahabag ka sa akin, O Panginoon, Anak ni David; ang anak kong babae ay pinahihirapan ng isang demonyo.”
23 Ngunit hindi siya sumagot sa kanya kahit isang salita. Lumapit ang kanyang mga alagad at nakiusap sa kanya, na nagsasabi, “Paalisin mo siya, sapagkat nagsisisigaw siya at sumusunod sa hulihan natin.”
24 Ngunit sumagot siya at sinabi, “Ako'y hindi sinugo maliban sa mga nawawalang tupa ng sambahayan ni Israel.”
25 Ngunit lumapit siya at lumuhod sa kanya, na nagsasabi, “Panginoon, tulungan mo ako.”
26 Siya'y sumagot at sinabi, “Hindi mabuti na kunin ang tinapay ng mga anak at itapon ito sa mga aso.”
27 Ngunit sinabi niya, “Oo, Panginoon. Subalit maging ang mga aso ay kumakain ng mga mumo na nalalaglag mula sa hapag ng kanilang mga panginoon.”
28 Nang magkagayo'y sumagot si Jesus at sinabi sa kanya, “O babae, napakalaki ng iyong pananampalataya! Mangyayari sa iyo ang sinasabi mo.” At gumaling ang kanyang anak sa oras ding iyon.
Maraming Pinagaling si Jesus
29 Umalis si Jesus doon at dumaan sa baybayin ng Dagat ng Galilea. Umakyat siya sa bundok at naupo roon.
30 Lumapit sa kanya ang napakaraming tao na dala ang mga pilay, mga lumpo, mga bulag, mga pipi, at marami pang iba. Inilagay nila ang mga ito sa kanyang paanan at sila'y pinagaling niya.
31 Kaya't namangha ang maraming tao nang makita nilang nagsasalita ang mga pipi, gumaling ang mga lumpo, lumalakad ang mga pilay, at nakakita ang mga bulag, at niluwalhati nila ang Diyos ng Israel.
Ang Pagpapakain sa Apat na Libo(H)
32 Pagkatapos ay tinawag ni Jesus ang kanyang mga alagad, at sinabi, “Nahahabag ako sa napakaraming taong ito, sapagkat tatlong araw na silang sumasama sa akin at wala silang makain; at hindi ko nais na paalisin silang gutom, baka himatayin sila sa daan.”
33 At sinabi sa kanya ng mga alagad, “Saan tayo kukuha sa ilang na lugar ng sapat na tinapay upang mapakain ang ganito karaming tao?”
34 Sinabi ni Jesus sa kanila, “Ilang tinapay mayroon kayo?” Sinabi nila, “Pito, at ilang maliliit na isda.”
35 Iniutos niya sa mga tao na umupo sa lupa.
36 Kinuha niya ang pitong tinapay at ang mga isda; nang siya'y makapagpasalamat, pinagputul-putol niya ito at ibinigay sa mga alagad, at ibinigay naman ng mga alagad sa mga tao.
37 Kumain silang lahat at nabusog. Kinuha nila ang natira sa mga pinagputul-putol at napuno pa ang pitong kaing.
38 Ang mga kumain ay apat na libong lalaki, bukod pa sa mga babae at sa mga bata.
39 Pinaalis na niya ang maraming mga tao. Sumakay siya sa isang bangka at nagtungo sa nasasakupan ng Magdala.[d]
