¹⁸ And I also say to you that you are ^[a](A)Peter, and upon this ^[b]rock I will build My church; and the gates of ^(B)Hades will not overpower it.

¹⁵ And you, ^(A)Capernaum, will not be exalted to heaven, will you? You will be brought down to Hades!

²³ And in ^(A)Hades he raised his eyes, being in torment, and *saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his ^[a]arms.

³¹ he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of the ^[a]Christ, that ^(A)He was neither abandoned to Hades, nor did His flesh ^[b]suffer decay.

¹⁸ and the ^(A)living One; and I ^[a](B)was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have ^(C)the keys of death and of Hades.

⁸ I looked, and behold, ^[a]an ^(A)ashen horse; and the one who sat on it had the name ^(B)Death, and ^(C)Hades was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, ^(D)to kill with sword, and famine, and ^[b]plague, and by the wild animals of the earth.

¹³ And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, and ^(A)Death and Hades ^(B)gave up the dead who were in them; and they were judged, each one of them ^(C)according to their deeds. ¹⁴ Then ^(D)Death and Hades were thrown into ^(E)the lake of fire. This is the ^(F)second death, the lake of fire. ¹⁵ And if ^[a]anyone’s name was not found written in ^(G)the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
