Jesus Foretells His Death

^21 (A)From that time ^[a]Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and ^(B)suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised up on the third day.

²³ and ^(A)they will kill Him, and He will be raised on the third day.” And they were deeply grieved.

¹⁹ and ^(A)will hand Him over to the Gentiles to mock and scourge and crucify Him, and on ^(B)the third day He will be raised up.”

^31 (A)And He began to teach them that ^(B)the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

³¹ For He was teaching His disciples and telling them, “^(A)The Son of Man is to be ^[a]delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill Him; and when He has been killed, He will rise three days later.”

³⁴ They will mock Him and ^(A)spit on Him, and scourge Him and kill Him, and three days later He will rise again.”

^22 (A)saying, “^(B)The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed and be raised up on the third day.”

^31 (A)Then He took the twelve aside and said to them, “Behold, ^(B)we are going up to Jerusalem, and ^(C)all things which are written through the prophets about the Son of Man will be accomplished. ^32 (D)For He will be ^[a]handed over to the Gentiles, and will be mocked and mistreated and spit upon, ³³ and after they have scourged Him, they will kill Him; and the third day He will rise again.”
