John the Baptist’s Last Testimony
22 After these things Jesus and His (N)disciples came into the land of Judea; and there He was spending time with them and (O)baptizing. 23 Now John also was baptizing in Aenon, near Salim, because there was an abundance of water there; and people were coming and being baptized— 24 for (P)John had not yet been thrown into prison.
25 Then a matter of dispute developed on the part of John’s disciples with a Jew about [c](Q)purification. 26 And they came to John and said to him, “(R)Rabbi, He who was with you (S)beyond the Jordan, to whom you (T)have testified—behold, He is baptizing and all the people are coming to Him.” 27 John replied, “(U)A person can receive not even one thing unless it (V)has been given to him from heaven. 28 You yourselves [d]are my witnesses that I said, ‘(W)I am not the [e]Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent ahead of Him.’ 29 He who has the bride is (X)the groom; but the friend of the groom, who stands and listens to him, rejoices greatly because of the groom’s voice. So this (Y)joy of mine has been made full. 30 He must [f]increase, but I must [g]decrease.
31 “(Z)He who comes from above is above all; (AA)the one who is only from the earth is of the earth and speaks of the earth. (AB)He who comes from heaven is above all. 32 What He has seen and heard, of this He (AC)testifies; and (AD)no one accepts His testimony. 33 The one who has accepted His testimony (AE)has certified that God is true. 34 For He whom God (AF)sent speaks the words of God; (AG)for He does not give the Spirit [h]sparingly. 35 (AH)The Father loves the Son and (AI)has entrusted all things to His hand. 36 The one who (AJ)believes in the Son has eternal life; but the one who (AK)does not [i]obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”

John Testifies Again About Jesus
22 After this, Jesus and his disciples went out into the Judean countryside, where he spent some time with them, and baptized.(O) 23 Now John(P) also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because there was plenty of water, and people were coming and being baptized. 24 (This was before John was put in prison.)(Q) 25 An argument developed between some of John’s disciples and a certain Jew over the matter of ceremonial washing.(R) 26 They came to John and said to him, “Rabbi,(S) that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan—the one you testified(T) about—look, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him.”
27 To this John replied, “A person can receive only what is given them from heaven. 28 You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I am not the Messiah but am sent ahead of him.’(U) 29 The bride belongs to the bridegroom.(V) The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete.(W) 30 He must become greater; I must become less.”[b]
31 The one who comes from above(X) is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth.(Y) The one who comes from heaven is above all. 32 He testifies to what he has seen and heard,(Z) but no one accepts his testimony.(AA) 33 Whoever has accepted it has certified that God is truthful. 34 For the one whom God has sent(AB) speaks the words of God, for God[c] gives the Spirit(AC) without limit. 35 The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands.(AD) 36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life,(AE) but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.

26 And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him.
27 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.
28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.
29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.
30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
31 He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.
32 And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony.
33 He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.
34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.
35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.
36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

The Disciples in the World

Disciples’ Future Glory

Jesus Prays for His Disciples

Jesus Prays for All Believers
20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one,(AJ) Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.(AK) May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.(AL) 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me,(AM) that they may be one as we are one(AN)— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me(AO) and have loved them(AP) even as you have loved me.
24 “Father, I want those you have given me(AQ) to be with me where I am,(AR) and to see my glory,(AS) the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.(AT)
25 “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you,(AU) I know you, and they know that you have sent me.(AV) 26 I have made you[e] known to them,(AW) and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them(AX) and that I myself may be in them.”
