Matthew 19:5-7

5 and said, ‘On account of this a man will leave his[a] father and his[b] mother and will be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’?[c] 6 So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, man must not separate.” 7 They said to him, “Why then did Moses command us[d] to give a document—a certificate of divorce—and to divorce her?”

New International Version
5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’[a]?(A) 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
7 “Why then,” they asked, “did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?”(B)
