17 While going up to Jerusalem,(A) Jesus took the 12 disciples aside privately and said to them on the way: 18 “Listen! We are going up to Jerusalem. The Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn Him to death.(B) 19 Then they will hand Him over to the Gentiles(C) to be mocked, flogged,[a] and crucified, and He will be resurrected[b] on the third day.”

Jesus Predicts His Death a Third Time(A)
17 Now Jesus was going up to Jerusalem. On the way, he took the Twelve aside and said to them, 18 “We are going up to Jerusalem,(B) and the Son of Man(C) will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law.(D) They will condemn him to death 19 and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged(E) and crucified.(F) On the third day(G) he will be raised to life!”(H)

We are going up to Jerusalem.(B) Everything that is written(C) through the prophets about the Son of Man will be accomplished.(D) 32 For He will be handed over to the Gentiles,(E) and He will be mocked,(F) insulted, spit(G) on; 33 and after they flog Him, they will kill Him, and He will rise on the third day.”(H)
34 They understood none of these things.(I) This saying[a](J) was hidden(K) from them, and they did not grasp what was said.

34 The disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about.(J)
