¹¹ And the crowds were saying, “This is ^(A)the prophet Jesus, from ^(B)Nazareth in Galilee.”

²⁵ And there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was ^(A)righteous and devout, ^(B)looking for the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him. ²⁶ And ^(C)it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not ^(D)see death before he had seen the Lord’s ^[a]Christ. ²⁷ And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, ^[b](E)to carry out for Him the custom of the Law, ²⁸ then he took Him into his arms, and blessed God, and said,

³³ And His father and ^(I)mother were amazed at the things which were being said about Him. ³⁴ And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary ^(J)His mother, “Behold, this Child is appointed for ^(K)the fall and ^[d]rise of many in Israel, and for a sign to be opposed—

^16 (A)Fear gripped them all, and they began ^(B)glorifying God, saying, “A great ^(C)prophet has arisen among us!” and, “God has ^[a]visited His people!”

¹⁹ And He said to them, “What things?” And they said to Him, “The things about ^(A)Jesus the Nazarene, who was a ^(B)prophet mighty in deed and word in the sight of God and all the people,

²¹ They asked him, “What then? Are you ^(A)Elijah?” And he *said, “I am not.” “Are you ^(B)the Prophet?” And he answered, “No.”

²⁵ They asked him, and said to him, “Why then are you baptizing, if you are not the ^[a]Christ, nor Elijah, nor ^(A)the Prophet?”

¹⁹ The woman *said to Him, “^[a]Sir, I perceive that You are ^(A)a prophet.

²² Moses said, ‘^(A)The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet ^[a]like me from your brethren; to Him you shall give heed to everything He says to you.

³⁷ This is the Moses who said to the sons of Israel, ‘^(A)God will raise up for you a prophet ^[a]like me from your brethren.’
