²⁶But if we say, ‘Of human origin’—we are afraid of the people, for they all hold that John was a prophet.”^(A)

²⁶But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.

⁴⁶And ^(A)although they were seeking to arrest him, ^(B)they feared the crowds, because they held him to be ^(C)a prophet.

⁴⁶They looked for a way to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowd because the people held that he was a prophet.^(A)

⁴⁶But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.
