⁴⁵ When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard Jesus’ parables, they knew he was talking about them.

⁴⁶ They looked for a way to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowd because the people held that he was a prophet.^(A)

¹⁸ The chief priests and the teachers of the law heard this and began looking for a way to kill him, for they feared him,^(A) because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching.^(B)

Division Over Who Jesus Is

²⁵ At that point some of the people of Jerusalem began to ask, “Isn’t this the man they are trying to kill?^(A)

³⁰ At this they tried to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him,^(A) because his hour had not yet come.^(B)
