^41 (A)Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question: ⁴² “What do you think about ^[a]the Christ, whose son is He?” They *said to Him, “^(B)The son of David.” ⁴³ He *said to them, “Then how does David ^[b](C)in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord,’ saying,

⁴⁵ If David then calls Him ‘Lord,’ how is He his son?” ^46 (E)No one was able to answer Him a word, nor did anyone dare from that day on to ask Him ^[c]another question.

^41 (A)Then He said to them, “How is it that they say ^[a]the Christ is ^(B)David’s son? ⁴² For David himself says in the book of Psalms,

⁴⁴ Therefore David calls Him ‘Lord,’ and how is He his son?”
