¹⁵ “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to make one proselyte,^(A) and when he becomes one, you make him twice as fit for hell^[a] as you are!

²³ “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You pay a tenth of^[a] mint, dill, and cumin,^[b] yet you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice,^(A) mercy, and faith. These things should have been done without neglecting the others.

²⁵ “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed^[a] and self-indulgence!^(A)

⁵² “Woe to you experts in the law! You have taken away the key of knowledge!^(A) You didn’t go in yourselves, and you hindered^(B) those who were going in.”
