The First Lord’s Supper

²⁶ As they were eating,^(A) Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, gave it to the disciples,^(B) and said, “Take and eat it; this is My body.”^{(C) 27} Then He took a cup, and after giving thanks, He gave it to them and said, “Drink from it, all of you. ²⁸ For this is My blood that establishes the covenant;^[a] it is shed for many for the forgiveness of sins.^{(D) 29} But I tell you, from this moment I will not drink of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it in a new way^[b] in My Father’s kingdom^(E) with you.” ³⁰ After singing psalms,^[c] they went out to the Mount of Olives.^(F)

¹⁷ Then He took a cup,^(A) and after giving thanks,^(B) He said, “Take this and share it among yourselves. ¹⁸ For I tell you, from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”

¹⁹ And He took bread, gave thanks, broke it, gave it to them, and said, “This is My body,^(C) which is given for you. Do this in remembrance^(D) of Me.”

²⁰ In the same way He also took the cup after supper and said, “This cup is the new covenant^(E) established by My blood;^(F) it is shed for you.^[a]

²³ For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you:^(A) On the night when He was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took bread, ²⁴ gave thanks, broke it, and said,^[a] “This is My body, which is^[b] for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.”^(B)

²⁵ In the same way, after supper He also took the cup and said, “This cup is the new covenant^(C) established by My blood.^(D) Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”
