²⁸ for ^(A)this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for ^(B)many for forgiveness of sins.

¹³ You call Me ^(A)Teacher and ^(B)Lord; and ^[a]you are right, for so I am. ¹⁴ If I then, ^(C)the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. ¹⁵ For I gave you ^(D)an example that you also should do as I did to you. ¹⁶ Truly, truly, I say to you, ^(E)a slave is not greater than his master, nor is ^(F)one who is sent greater than the one who sent him. ¹⁷ If you know these things, you are ^(G)blessed if you do them. ^18 (H)I do not speak of all of you. I know the ones I have ^(I)chosen; but it is ^(J)that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘^(K)He who eats My bread has lifted up his heel against Me.’ ¹⁹ From now on ^(L)I am telling you before it comes to pass, so that when it does occur, you may believe that ^(M)I am He. ²⁰ Truly, truly, I say to you, ^(N)he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.”

Jesus Predicts His Betrayal

²¹ When Jesus had said this, He ^(O)became troubled in spirit, and testified and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, that ^(P)one of you will ^[b]betray Me.” ²² The disciples began looking at one another, ^(Q)at a loss to know of which one He was speaking. ²³ There was reclining on ^(R)Jesus’ bosom one of His disciples, ^(S)whom Jesus loved. ²⁴ So Simon Peter *gestured to him, and *said to him, “Tell us who it is of whom He is speaking.” ²⁵ He, ^(T)leaning back thus on Jesus’ bosom, *said to Him, “Lord, who is it?” ²⁶ Jesus then *answered, “That is the one for whom I shall dip the morsel and give it to him.” So when He had dipped the morsel, He *took and *gave it to Judas, ^(U)the son of Simon Iscariot. ²⁷ After the morsel, ^(V)Satan then ^(W)entered into him. Therefore Jesus *said to him, “What you do, do quickly.” ²⁸ Now no one of those reclining at the table knew for what purpose He had said this to him. ²⁹ For some were supposing, because Judas ^(X)had the money box, that Jesus was saying to him, “Buy the things we have need of ^(Y)for the feast”; or else, that he should ^(Z)give something to the poor. ³⁰ So after receiving the morsel he went out immediately; and ^(AA)it was night.

³¹ Therefore when he had gone out, Jesus *said, “Now ^[c]is ^(AB)the Son of Man ^(AC)glorified, and ^(AD)God ^[d]is glorified in Him; ^32 [e]if God is glorified in Him, ^(AE)God will also glorify Him in Himself, and will glorify Him immediately. ^33 (AF)Little children, I am with you ^(AG)a little while longer. ^(AH)You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, now I also say to you, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’ ³⁴ A ^(AI)new commandment I give to you, ^(AJ)that you love one another, ^(AK)even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. ^35 (AL)By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

³⁶ Simon Peter *said to Him, “Lord, where are You going?” Jesus answered, “^(AM)Where I go, you cannot follow Me now; but ^(AN)you will follow later.” ³⁷ Peter *said to Him, “Lord, why can I not follow You right now? ^(AO)I will lay down my life for You.” ³⁸ Jesus *answered, “Will you lay down your life for Me? Truly, truly, I say to you, ^(AP)a rooster will not crow until you deny Me three times.

⁹ For you know ^(A)the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ^(B)though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.

⁷ but ^[a](A)emptied Himself, taking the form of a ^(B)bond-servant, and ^(C)being made in the likeness of men.

⁶ who ^(A)gave Himself as a ransom for all, the ^(B)testimony ^[a]given at ^[b](C)the proper time.

¹⁴ who ^(A)gave Himself for us ^(B)to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to ^(C)purify for Himself a ^(D)people for His own possession, ^(E)zealous for good deeds.

²⁸ so Christ also, having been ^(A)offered once to ^(B)bear the sins of many, will appear ^(C)a second time for ^(D)salvation ^(E)without reference to sin, to those who ^(F)eagerly await Him.

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, ^(A)the faithful witness, the ^(B)firstborn of the dead, and the ^(C)ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who ^(D)loves us and released us from our sins ^[a]by His blood—
