³¹Jesus told the followers, “Tonight you will lose your faith because of me. It is written in the Scriptures:

‘I will kill the shepherd,
and the sheep will scatter.’ Zechariah 13:7

³²But after I rise from death, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.”

³³Peter said, “All the other followers may lose their faith because of you. But I will never lose my faith.”

³¹Then Jesus told them, “This very night you will all fall away on account of me,^(B) for it is written:

“‘I will strike the shepherd,
and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’^[a]^(C)

³²But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.”^(D)

³³Peter replied, “Even if all fall away on account of you, I never will.”
