⁴ and they schemed to arrest Jesus secretly and kill him.^(A)

¹¹ But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law were furious^(A) and began to discuss with one another what they might do to Jesus.

⁴⁷ Every day he was teaching at the temple.^(A) But the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the leaders among the people were trying to kill him.^(B)

² and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some way to get rid of Jesus,^(A) for they were afraid of the people.

¹⁶ So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute him.
