⁶⁷ Then they spit in His face^(A) and beat Him; others slapped Him ⁶⁸ and said, “Prophesy to us, Messiah! Who hit You?”^(B)

⁶⁵ Then some began to spit on Him, to blindfold Him, and to beat Him, saying, “Prophesy!”^(A) The temple police^(B) also took Him and slapped Him.

²² When He had said these things, one of the temple police standing by slapped Jesus, saying, “Is this the way you answer the high priest?”

²³ “If I have spoken wrongly,” Jesus answered him, “give evidence^[a] about the wrong; but if rightly,^(A) why do you hit Me?”
