¹⁹ While he was sitting on the judge’s bench, his wife sent word to him, “Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for today I’ve suffered terribly in a dream because of Him!”^(A)

²⁹ (And when all the people, including the tax collectors, heard this, they acknowledged God’s way of righteousness,^[a] because they had been baptized with John’s baptism.^(A)

⁴¹ We are punished justly, because we’re getting back what we deserve for the things we did, but this man has done nothing wrong.”^(A)

⁴⁷ When the centurion saw what happened, he began to glorify^(A) God, saying, “This man really was righteous!”

³⁰ “I can do nothing on My own. I judge only as I hear, and My judgment^(A) is righteous,^(B) because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.^(C)
