24 Now when Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but rather that (A)a riot was starting, he took water and (B)washed his hands in front of the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of (C)this Man’s blood; (D)you yourselves shall see.” 25 And all the people replied, “(E)His blood shall be on us and on our children!” 26 Then he released Barabbas [a]for them; but after having Jesus (F)flogged, he handed Him over to be crucified.

24 When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar(A) was starting, he took water and washed his hands(B) in front of the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,”(C) he said. “It is your responsibility!”(D)
25 All the people answered, “His blood is on us and on our children!”(E)
26 Then he released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged,(F) and handed him over to be crucified.
