35 When the soldiers had crucified him, they threw lots [C similar to dice] to ·decide who would get [L divide up] his clothes[a] [Ps. 22:18]. 36 The soldiers sat there and ·continued watching [kept guard over] him. 37 They put a sign above Jesus’ head with the charge against him. It said: this is jesus, the king of the jews.

35 When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots.(A) 36 And sitting down, they kept watch(B) over him there. 37 Above his head they placed the written charge against him: this is jesus, the king of the jews.
