⁴⁸Immediately one of them ran and took a sponge, ^(A)filled it with sour wine and put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink.

⁴⁸Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar,^(A) put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink.

²⁹Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and ^(A)they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth.

²⁹A jar of wine vinegar^(A) was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips.
