¹¹ “I baptize you with^[a] water for repentance,^[b](A) but the One who is coming after me is more powerful than I. I am not worthy to remove^[c] His sandals. He Himself will baptize you with^[d] the Holy Spirit and fire.^{(B) 12} His winnowing shovel^[e] is in His hand, and He will clear His threshing floor and gather His wheat into the barn. But the chaff He will burn up with fire that never goes out.”^(C)

⁷ He was preaching: “Someone more powerful^(A) than I will come after me.^(B) I am not worthy^(C) to stoop down and untie the strap of His sandals.^{(D) 8} I have baptized you with^[a] water,^(E) but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”^(F)
