3 John, you see, is the person spoken of by Isaiah the prophet, when he said,
The voice of someone shouting in the desert:
“Prepare the route that the Lord will take,
straighten out his paths!”
4 John himself had clothing made from camel’s hair, and a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey. 5 Jerusalem, all Judaea, and the whole area around the Jordan, were going off to him.

3 This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah:
“A voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.’”[a](A)
4 John’s(B) clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist.(C) His food was locusts(D) and wild honey. 5 People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region of the Jordan.
