²⁰ For I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never get into the kingdom of heaven.

²¹ “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven,^(A) but only the one who does the will^(B) of my Father in heaven.^(C)

Possessions and the Kingdom

²³ Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it will be hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven.^{(A) 24} Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”^(B)

⁴⁷ And if your eye causes you to fall away, gouge it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God^(A) with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown^(B) into hell,^(C)

⁵ Jesus answered, “Truly I tell you, unless someone is born^(A) of water and the Spirit,^(B) he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
