^29 (A)If your right eye makes you ^[a]stumble, tear it out and throw it from you; for it is better for you ^[b]to lose one of the parts of your body, ^[c]than for your whole body to be thrown into ^[d](B)hell. ^30 (C)If your right hand makes you ^[e]stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you ^[f]to lose one of the parts of your body, ^[g]than for your whole body to go into ^[h](D)hell.

³¹ “It was said, ‘^(E)Whoever sends his wife away, let him give her a certificate of divorce’; ^32 (F)but I say to you that everyone who ^[i]divorces his wife, except for the reason of unchastity, makes her commit adultery; and whoever marries a ^[j]divorced woman commits adultery.

³³ “Again, ^(G)you have heard that ^[k]the ancients were told, ‘^[l](H)You shall not ^[m]make false vows, but shall fulfill your ^[n]vows to the Lord.’ ³⁴ But I say to you, ^(I)make no oath at all, either by heaven, for it is ^(J)the throne of God, ³⁵ or by the earth, for it is the ^(K)footstool of His feet, or ^[o]by Jerusalem, for it is ^(L)the city of the great King. ³⁶ Nor shall you make an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. ³⁷ But let your statement be, ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no’; anything beyond these is ^[p]of ^(M)evil.

³⁸ “^(N)You have heard that it was said, ‘^(O)An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ ³⁹ But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but ^(P)whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. ⁴⁰ If anyone wants to sue you and take your ^[q]shirt, let him have your ^[r]coat also. ⁴¹ Whoever ^[s]forces you to go one mile, go with him two. ^42 (Q)Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you.

⁴³ “^(R)You have heard that it was said, ‘^(S)You shall love your neighbor ^(T)and hate your enemy.’ ⁴⁴ But I say to you, ^(U)love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, ⁴⁵ so that you may ^[t]be ^(V)sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. ⁴⁶ For ^(W)if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? ⁴⁷ If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? ⁴⁸ Therefore ^[u](X)you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

²⁸ Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather ^(A)fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in ^[a](B)hell.

^9 (A)If your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it from you. It is better for you to enter life with one eye, than ^[a]to have two eyes and be cast into the ^[b](B)fiery hell.

¹⁵ “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you travel around on sea and land to make one ^[a](A)proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of ^[b](B)hell as yourselves.

³³ You serpents, ^(A)you brood of vipers, how ^[a]will you escape the ^[b]sentence of ^[c](B)hell?

^43 (A)If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life crippled, than, having your two hands, to go into ^[a](B)hell, into the ^(C)unquenchable fire, ⁴⁴ [^[b]where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.] ⁴⁵ If your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame, than, having your two feet, to be cast into ^[c](D)hell, ⁴⁶ [^[d]where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.] ^47 (E)If your eye causes you to stumble, throw it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, than, having two eyes, to be cast into ^[e](F)hell, ^48 (G)where their worm does not die, and ^(H)the fire is not quenched.

⁴⁹ “For everyone will be salted with fire. ⁵⁰ Salt is good; but ^(I)if the salt becomes unsalty, with what will you ^[f]make it salty again? ^(J)Have salt in yourselves, and ^(K)be at peace with one another.”

⁵ But I will ^[a]warn you whom to fear: ^(A)fear the One who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into ^[b](B)hell; yes, I tell you, fear Him!

⁶ And ^(A)the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which ^(B)defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our ^[a]life, and is set on fire by ^[b](C)hell.
