Matthew 5:35-48

35 nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of (A)the great King. 36 Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. 37 (B)But let [a]your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.
Go the Second Mile(C)
38 “You have heard that it was said, (D)‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ 39 (E)But I tell you not to resist an evil person. (F)But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. 40 If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also. 41 And whoever (G)compels you to go one mile, go with him two. 42 Give to him who asks you, and (H)from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away.
Love Your Enemies(I)
43 “You have heard that it was said, (J)‘You shall love your neighbor (K)and hate your enemy.’ 44 [b]But I say to you, (L)love your enemies, bless those who curse you, (M)do good to those who hate you, and pray (N)for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for (O)He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 (P)For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet your [c]brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the [d]tax collectors do so? 48 (Q)Therefore you shall be perfect, just (R)as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Love for Enemies
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[c](G) and hate your enemy.’(H) 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,(I) 45 that you may be children(J) of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.(K) 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get?(L) Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.(M)

37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.
41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. 30 Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.(D) 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.(E)
32 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you?(F) Even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you?
