²⁶ “At this, the slave fell facedown before him and said, ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay you everything!’

²⁹ “At this, his fellow slave fell down^[a] and began begging him, ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.’

⁷ Will not God grant justice^(A) to His elect^(B) who cry out to Him day and night?^(C) Will He delay^(D) to help them?^[a]

¹⁵ And so, after waiting patiently, Abraham^[a] obtained the promise.

Waiting for the Lord

⁷ Therefore, brothers, be patient until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth and is patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains.^{(A) 8} You also must be patient. Strengthen your hearts, because the Lord’s coming is near.^(B)

⁹ The Lord does not delay His promise,^(A) as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any^(B) to perish^(C) but all to come to repentance.^(D)
